The Walt Disney World Resort covers 47 square miles. Not all of that area is accessible to guests, of course, but still, that’s a lot of ground to cover. Disney offers a lot of walking tours to show you some of the unique sights around property, but if you prefer to roll rather than walk, a Segway tour may be right for you. There are three Segway tours currently offered in Walt Disney World. There used to be one more—the Simply Segway tour that taught the basics of navigating a Segway—but that tour was discontinued in September 2011. The first tour on today’s list is also being discontinued, but not until July 2012, so you may still be able to experience it before it’s gone.
Here are three things to do in Walt Disney World if you love Segways.
1. Nature-Inspired Design tour (only until July 2012)
This tour lasts three hours and takes place in Epcot. As you can guess from the title, it has a nature theme, so you spend time in The Land and The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilions. Then you get to ride a Segway X-2 in an off-road backstage area. The tour costs $129 and is offered on selected dates between now and July 2012. Call (407) WDW-TOUR to book.
2. Around the World at Epcot tour
This tour also takes place in Epcot, but it’s more of an on-road rather than an off-road tour. You do have the option of experiencing a variety of terrain, though. The tour lasts two hours. First you go through a training session, and then you get to travel the World Showcase Promenade on your Segway. The best part is that the tour is offered before World Showcase opens to the public, so you can see it without the crowds! Epcot admission is required in addition to the tour cost of $99. Call (407) WDW-TOUR to book.
3. Wilderness Back Trail Adventure tour
If you really want an off-road experience, this tour at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is the one for you. It’s a high-tech version of a nature walk around the beautiful grounds of Fort Wilderness. The tour lasts two hours and is $90. You can book by calling (407) WDW-TOUR, but you may also be able to book a same-day tour by stopping by the Bike Barn.

It’s not possible to do all three of these tours in one day, but you could do the Around the World at Epcot tour and the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure tour back-to-back. The Around the World tour is offered every morning at 7:45 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 9:30 a.m., and the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure tour is offered Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Since the Around the World tour lasts two hours, you could sign up for the 7:45 tour and still make it to Fort Wilderness for the 11:30 a.m. tour. It wouldn’t be possible to combine the Nature-Inspired Design tour with either of the others because it lasts three hours and is usually offered at 8:15 a.m. That means it overlaps with the other Epcot tour, and you wouldn’t have enough time to make the 11:30 a.m. Fort Wilderness tour. If it sounds interesting, though, do it soon, because it will gone before long!
